Families of all ages, sizes and abilities are invited to attend Sunday Family Arts to create art projects together, inspired by our current exhibtions. Every Sunday is a new project! Normally we start with a short tour and discussion of the artwork inspiring that day's project followed by instruction in the studio. Families will work as a team to promote sharing ideas, communication skills and growing everyone's artistic confidence. You will be free to leave whenever projects are finished (or when little ones get restless).
Due to the dynamic nature of each session, please arrive on time and with all family members (parents, too!) dressed appropriately for messy projects.
Please call 604 864-8087 to register.

The Reach Arts Action Heritage Projects (AAH) engage community in the process of art as a vehicle for social change.
The 2012 AAH Project, sponsored in part with funding from the BC Arts Council, brings together youth/young adults 15-30 yrs and adults 50+ to learn about the arts and social action and then engages them in the creation of their own art work. The first component of the project relates to Bearing Witness, an exhibition organized and circulated by the Vancouver Art Gallery, at The Reach from April 12 to June 10.
Participants will attend a tour of the exhibition led by writer, Marion Quednau, and visual artist, Linda Klippenstein. The artists will facilitate an arts session with a short presentation on art and social action and a discussion of the art works in Bearing Witness. Participants will be creating "postcards from the edge" with a short story or poem on one side and visual art on the other that is inspired by their own experiences. The art pieces created will be displayed in a virtual gallery on-line.
The AAH Postcard sessions are being offered
through the month of May. The pieces that are created will also be
exhibited at The Reach the first week of June. Those who participate
will be invited back to an evening reception on June 7. For more
information and to participate please contact AAH Artistic Director Kat
Wahamaa at aahproject@thereach.ca
