Deon Feng is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores themes of cultural alterity, globalized identities, and diasporic Chinese melancholia. The body of work presented in this exhibition reflects the artist’s experiences of displacement and fragmentation during their recent travels between France, China, and Canada. Feng grappled with a yearning for “somewhere else” and with feelings of being an outsider: “looking inside, what used to be, home, and being someone whose ideas of belonging are excluded from dominant culture.”
