EXHIBITION
Arty Urdabayev, I Know the Way, I Think, 2024, digital print on enhanced matte paper, 20 x 16 in.
Lucas Mindzak, Steamer "Onward" Crossing Emory Bar, 1867, 2024, oil painting on stretched canvas, 13 x 13 in.

The exhibition shares fresh perspectives on the Fraser Valley’s landscape and history. Emerging artists Artyom “Arty” Urdabayev and Lucas Mindzak explore—through the mediums of photography, sound, and painting— retrospection, memory, and the sense of place as a source of solace. Their works weave together the past and present, creating a nuanced portrait of the Valley.

By engaging different senses and the unique ways they allow us to access memory, the artists invite us to reflect on our personal relationships with the land and its stories. This offers us a unique chance to immerse ourselves in the Valley’s hidden narratives and discover the beauty in its complexities. Step into the Grotto Gallery and experience a multisensory exhibition that invites you to explore personal and historical moments, reflecting on how time alters perception and memory. Join the journey of (re)discovery and explore the Fraser Valley through the eyes of these two talented local artists.
